District Medical Officer (Non Procedural)
Western Australia – This is an exciting role for a very experienced General Practitioner with some experience of rural and remote medicine. You will have a high degree of autonomy and independence in this role leading a team of practitioners in both a hospital and outreach clinics serving remote communities in Western Australia with 43% of the population aborigines. You will require extensive generalist experience, primary health care knowledge and skills and competence in handling emergencies. The role includes some sessions in Emergency Department. The region has a significantly transient population which includes seasonal tourists. 75% of hospital presentations within the Kimberley are for semi-urgent and non-urgent cases. The leading cause of emergency attendance for residents are skin related diseases and disorders; injuries; toxic or drug effect; ear, nose, throat and respiratory system.
